Durham Lamaze Association has only certified Lamaze Educators. Our instructors are located throughout the GTA and Durham Region. The Lamaze International Certification Program is the only childbirth educator certification program that is accredited by NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies). All Lamaze educators are certified and are required to re-certify every three years with continuing education credit, birth observation credit and class observation credit.
Our educators come from various professional and medical backgrounds and have chosen the path of Childbirth Education.

Patricia Norton - L.C.C.E.

|
Patti has been certified as a Lamaze instructor since 1996. Her client's complete satisfaction is of the utmost importance. Patti believes that clients should be having fun while they are learning birthing information. She ensures that every client feels comfortable and well prepared for the birth of their child. Patti is the mother of four and therefore, can identify with the needs and concerns of parents-to-be. Over the years she has worked with couples, singles, teens, multiple births and women with special needs. She respects and encourages clients to make well informed decisions for their own birth experience.

Veronica Daley - L.C.C.E.

Veronica's method as an instructor is to educate through humor and practical information. Having worked with couples, single mothers and teens, she customizes every class so that every one of her client's individual needs are addressed and met. Veronica recognizes that every woman is individual in their expectations and needs - she is open-minded and objective and is very comfortable working with those in less than usual circumstances. Among those that she's taught have been women in abusive relationships, women with physiological issues, and parents of multiples. Women who have chosen home-births and those who opt for the traditional hospital birth will all benefit from Veronica's relaxed, personal and caring teaching method.

Dr. Kelly McAllister is a Chiropractor and certified First Aid and CPR instructor. She has been teaching classes in the Durham Region for over ten years and has taught many young families what to do in the case of an emergency. Classes are taught on a monthly basis and private classes can also be arranged in order to teach siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters or anyone caring for the child.

Valerie Mandarich - L.C.C.E.

Valerie's goal as a childbirth educator is to help new mothers and their partners achieve satisfaction in their birth experience. This is accomplished with the use of discussion and fun, interactive activities. Valerie's classes are always interesting and informative. Each class series is changed to fit the needs of the couples being taught so that each person understands and benefits from the information being given. Valerie's classes don't just stop at childbirth. She also helps prepare new parents for life after childbirth with a new baby. Her openness, humor and honesty has helped prepare many new parents in the Durham Region.

Kerri-Ann is a Certified Lamaze instructor, Certified Doula, and Homeopath based in the Lakeside community of South Ajax.
Kerri-Ann loves to teach with enthusiasm and humor. She is dedicated to educating women and their families in the effective, normal, healthy, evidence-based techniques of childbirth.
Women who are informed, supported and confident will have all of the tools they need to choose the type of birth they so desire.

Nicole Wright, R.N., B.Sc.N, LCCE, CPT

Nicole is a Registered Nurse, Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator, Personal Trainer and mother of two. She currently works as a Public Health Nurse in the Maternal-Child Program providing education and support to both prenatal and postpartum families. Her nursing background includes work in Postpartum, Labour and Delivery, Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics and Breastfeeding Support Team.
Nicole is very enthusiastic and passionate about empowering families with evidence-based information. She believes that when clients are educated with knowledge and tools for childbirth, they will feel confident to make the best decisions for their own unique birthing process. The ultimate goal is to have a positive birth experience.
Nicole's teaching style is informal, interactive and most importantly... fun! She looks forward to working with you during the most amazing and exciting milestone in your life.

Jane McAllister is an advocate for pregnant women and families all over the Durham Region. She in involved with the Lakeridge Health System and the Breastfeeding and Prenatal Health Coalitions. Jane's teaching has not only inspired the couples she teaches to have informed and wonderful birth experiences, but she has also inspired many of the Durham Lamaze educators to become instructors themselves. Jane is carefree and practical in her teaching style. She is a certified Lamaze Educator, a bereavement counselor and so much more.

Nicole Daniel RN, BScN, LCCE

Nicole Daniel is a registered nurse with a passion for teaching and working with expectant parents and new families. Her nursing background includes both public health, and hospital nursing in the childbirth center at Markham Stouffville Hospital. As a Lamaze instructor, she loves to inspire confidence in childbirth and to relieve any fears and anxieties that expectant parents are feeling. Nicole has taken additional education in breastfeeding support. Nicole's hobby is performing in musical theatre, and this shows in her energetic and humorous teaching style. Also, ask Nicole about her services as a birth doula.

Alba has been a Registered Nurse for over 18 years and has been Teaching prenatal classes since 1993. In recognition of her knowledge and experience in this field, she has been granted the Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator designation by Lamaze International. She has taught prenatal classes for the Durham Region Health Department and for Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. In addition, Alba is currently offering two day prenatal series on weekends for busy parents to be at the Lakeridge Health Port Perry hospital. Not one to rest on her past successes, Alba continues to develop her skills in prenatal education through advanced nursing education activities.

Tracey, mother of three was inspired to pursue childbirth education after recognizing the significant impact Lamaze had with her own births. After the birth of her son, she realized what an empowering event it was and it changed her life forever. She holds a BSc in Engineering and a MBA and worked at several large organizations before she had kids and is now committed to educating expectant women and their partners to prepare them for one of the most exhilarating moments of their life. Tracey combines evidence based information with the practical experience she's had in facilitation to create a dynamic interactive series that will inspire confidence and build upon the knowledge that all expectant women and their partners have. Her goal is to help expectant moms achieve a positive birth experience. Tracey's teaching style is fun and engaging and she looks forward to partnering with you on this very important step in your life's journey. Also, ask Tracey about her services as a birth doula. |
